If your child is having a difficult time learning in a typical classroom environment, you’re not alone. You may know that once your child is identified as having special needs, they are entitled to guarantee accommodations by law. But unless you have experience with what accommodations are available, you may not know what to ask for or what might be most beneficial for them.
I’ve been on both sides of the table in IEP and 504 meetings—both as the principal of the school
providing accommodations and as a parent of children with special needs. With a doctorate in inclusive education and years of experience, I can guide you through the process of getting your child the help they need.
Children and teens I can help
It’s never too late to get your child the educational accommodations they need. If your child has a
diagnosis, we can get started right away. If you still need to travel the path of getting one, I can guide you toward that too. I’ve helped children with:

You can expect me to show up for you and your child armed with ideas, legal information, and a box of Kleenex. It’s OK that this process is as emotionally difficult as it is administratively complex. We’re talking about your child here. You can expect me to:
- Meet 1:1 with you about your child’s needs
- Attend IEP and 504 meetings
- Propose IEP goals
- Suggest accommodations that meet your child’s needs
- Do classroom observations
- Review assessments and records
- Draft letters/requests to your child’s school
- Draft complaints to the State Department of Education
